Report of Christian Meditation School in Florida
15-17 August

Gene Bebeau

Eight students attended and the faculty presentations were given by Pat Mitchell-a facultymember at St John’s Seminary in California and Sr Elizabeth Hillmann RC-director of the Cenacle Retreat House in Gainesville, FL. The program consisted of presentations on the teaching of John Main OSB, the Christian tradition of meditation, and stages of the spiritual journey. The participants each gave a talk describing their journey and sharing the teaching of Christian Meditation. We meditated together and attended mass at the Abbey. Once Again, I came away feeling a much deeper commitment to the path of Christian Meditation and a great feeling of community.

Linda Kaye writes:

"... Thank you for organizing the weekend at St. Leo's. It was truly one ofthe best "retreats" I have been on. I am so grateful I decided to attend for the second time. Not only have I received a greater understanding of WCCM to share with others, but my personal meditation is rooted ever deeper in God's loving presence. I highly recommend to those who have attended in the past to most definitely plan on attending this yearly program. A priceless gift to become acquainted with others on the journey and to know that at some time and place we are all joined in the silence."

Steve Lodesky writes:

"I made it through most of the binder, but for some reason never finished. So I'm seting myself the "task" of again reading through it. It was outstanding, I thought. So was the weekend. One of the things the weekend does is give someone (me) confidence that we have something of a handle on the teaching and the tradition. Otherwise, I think it is easy to feel not fully informed, missing essential components, etc. It gives us the foundation and confidence to build upon, hopefully inspiring us to enter more deeply into prayer."
