A READING FROM THE GOSPEL OF JESUS ACCORDING TO
JOHN (FIRST READER ONLY)
At Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem./
He found, in the temple area, people selling animals/
As well as the money changers seated there./
He made a whip out of cords/
And drove them all out of the temple area./
He spilled the coins of the money changers/
And overturned their tables./
The Jews said, "What gives you the right to
do this?"/
Jesus answered, "Destroy this temple and in
three days I will raise it up."/
He was speaking about the temple of his body./
Many began to believe in him when they saw the signs
he was doing./
But Jesus would not trust himself to them./
He undestood what there is in human nature./
