A READING FROM THE GOSPEL OF JESUS ACCORDING TO
JOHN (FIRST READER ONLY)
There was a wedding in Cana in Galilee./
Jesus, his disciples, and his mother were there./
When the wine ran short, Mary said to Jesus, "They
have no wine."/
"Woman, he said, your thoughts are not mine./
My hour has not yet come."/
She said to the servers, "Do whatever he tells
you."/
Jesus told them, "Fill six stone jars with
water."/
(Each jar held twenty to thirty gallons.)/
"Now, draw some out and take it to the steward."/
After tasting it, the steward immediately called
the bridegroom./
"Everyone serves the best wine first, but you
have kept the best wine until the end."/
After this, his disciples believed in him./
