A READING FROM THE GOSPEL OF JESUS ACCORDING TO JOHN (FIRST READER ONLY)

On the evening of the first day of the week,/

Because they were afraid,/

The doors were locked where the disciples were./

Jesus came and stood in their midst./

"Peace be with you", he said to them./

Then he showed them his hands and his side./

The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord./

He said again, "Peace be with you./

As my Father has sent me, so I send you."/

Then, he breathed on them and said,/

"Receive the Holy Spirit."/
