A READING FROM THE GOSPEL OF JESUS ACCORDING TO
LUKE (FIRST READER ONLY)
As they were proceeding on their journey, someone
said to Jesus,/
"I will follow you wherever you go."/
Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens; birds have
nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head."/
To another he said, "Follow me."/
That person replied, "Let me first bury my
father."/
Jesus replied, "Let the dead bury their dead;
you go and proclaim the reign of God."/
Another said, "I will follow you, Lord, but
first let me say farewell to my family,"/
Jesus replied, "No one who sets a hand to the
plow and looks back is fit for the reign of God."/
