A READING FROM THE GOSPEL OF JESUS ACCORDING TO
LUKE (FIRST READER ONLY)
Tax collectors and sinners were all listening to
Jesus/
But the Pharisees and scribes began to complain./
"This man welcomes sinners and eats with them."/
Jesus said, "Who among you, having a hundred
sheep and losing one/
Would not leave the ninety nine and go after the
lost?/
When it is found, the sheep herder sets it on his
shoulders/
And, with great joy, upon his arrival home,/
Call together the neighbours to celebrate?/
In the same way, there will be more joy in heaven
over one repentant sinner/
Than over ninety nine who do not need to repent?/
