If you wish to use the passage in a group setting rather than individually Barbara Hazzard recommends the following sequence:

After having welcomed and settled the group:

First reading

Pause

Second reading. (Different person) This time as we hear the reading, listen for a word or phrase from the passage that may touch you. After the reading and a few moments of quiet, yu are encouraged to speak that word or phrase is you wish.

Third reading. (Different person) As we hear the passage again, be aware of a feeling that comes from the passage itself or from your own feelings about the passage. After the reading and a few moments of quiet you are encouraged to share the feeling if you wish.

Fourth reading. (Different person) As we listen one last time to the passage, what is its invitation to you now? After the reading and s few moments of quiet, you are encouraged to share if you wish

Finally, take a few moments to pray silently for the person to your right, that he or she will respond to the invitation that has been offered.

Finish with a short prayer.

Some stretching exercises after sitting and in preparation for meditation.

Lead into meditation in the usual manner.
